Hiroes

I recently read an article saying that the character Nathan will be killed off of Heroes this season. This seems a bit nonsensical to me, as that Nathan is already dead and the actor has all but disappeared from the show already. What's more of a mystery is how he could be written out further as that the show makes constant use of time travel and reintroduces characters that are supposedly dead frequently enough that it's lost all novelty.

What interests me is how they could kill him off more. The only way I see it happening is killing him off at birth, which would feel rather contrived. It's bad enough that the show has no real sense of its own universe. Case in point: Nathan didn't have to die to begin with because it was established that his daughter's blood can cure anyone of anything, which in itself seemed trite since her power is healing herself, not others, but such is the way of the plot. It's as if the writers forgot about that.

The show has many errors in reason to anyone that pays the slightest attention, so this is nothing new, but it pains me every time I watch an episode on Hulu. It's a rather love hate relationship since I like the concept of the show, just not the execution. The show's focus has shifted incredibly as that the main character was once, arguably, Peter, Nathan's brother. My suspicion is that Peter fell out of favor due to his character being so incredibly naive or stupid at every turn. When your power is to be able to use the power of anyone you've ever walked by, you should be able to do more than anyone, right? Wrong, according to the writers, who made Peter too inept to accomplish the simplest of tasks. I kept hoping he would walk past someone with super intelligence and then the show's problems would be over.

The current season's plot seems more together than that of the last two seasons, however, which is a welcome sight. The annoying characters either act in a manner that doesn't make one scream at them or have been mysteriously absent, as is the case of Mohinder, though it looks like he'll be coming back as of the teaser from the end of the last episode. The one nuisance is Matt Parkman, who is currently housing Sylar in his mind. It would be so easy for him to just...shove Sylar into someone else's body. Too bad he didn't figure it out in time.

All this has lead me to conclude that the reason there's no such thing as superpowers in this world is that the people that get them would use them in mind numbing ways and those that did express intellect would only get the lame powers like super hearing. Or seeing sounds. What's up with that?!
